About This Blog

My name is Caroline Crampton. I'm the author of two non-fiction books — The Way to the Sea (2019) and A Body Made of Glass (2024) — and the writer/host of the Shedunnit podcast (BBC Sounds, all other podcast places). I've contributed to publications including Time, the Guardian, Granta and Literary Hub. For most of the 2010s, I worked as an editor at the New Statesman, where I hosted a podcast called SRSLY.

In July 2025 I quit posting on social media and moved all of my personal updates/writing to this blog. I post about what books I'm reading, how my writing is going, behind-the-scenes details of being a professional writer, photos from my travels, and thoughts on my personal enthusiasms, which include knitting, classic crime fiction and Regency romance novels.
